Who we are
Nicolas Carpi - Founder - CEO
Nicolas started his career as an engineer in Institut Curie’s Research Center in Paris, France. After some years, he realized that there was a tool missing in his daily tasks: an electronic lab notebook to keep track of experimental results in a proper manner. So he created eLabFTW and developed it as a side project up until 2019 where the ever growing success of the app pushed him to create Deltablot, to provide funding for further developments of the software.
In 2022, he quits his job to focus solely on making eLabFTW the greatest ELN software ever, by providing support and hosting to users, while keeping the software free and open source and participating in various Research Data Management projects such as The ELN Consortium.
Marcel Bolten - Developer
Marcel studied chemical biology in Dortmund, Germany and obtained a PhD awarded by ETH Zurich, Switzerland before he moved to the University of British Columbia, Canada for his postdoc. In his scientific career as a biochemist he wrote many pages in paper-based lab notebooks and was always unsatisfied by all its shortcomings.
In 2020 he started using eLabFTW and immediately all of the limitations disappeared. At the same time Marcel also started to contribute to the codebase. His long lasting experience as a research scientist combined with his passion for programming enable him to continuously add and improve features of eLabFTW with a focus on user experience.
Manon Stripes - UI/UX designer
It is well known that backend developers are not good when it comes to user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). Thanksfully, we can rely on the deep knowledge about these topics of Manon who helps use improve the interface.
History and goals
Deltablot was founded in April 2019 by Nicolas CARPi in Paris, France.
The primary goal for Deltablot is to provide hosting and support options for users of eLabFTW.
The secondary goal is to participate in the larger open source software community with contributions to projects. These contributions can be pull requests or monetary.
The third goal is to make the planet a better place by planting trees.
