RDM Club Meeting 2026-03-31 Summary
🌟 Summary of the RDM club meeting on March 31, 2026
In this meeting, we discussed ideas for improving workflow and project management capabilities in eLabFTW.
Participants reported that they currently used project management functions in OpenProject, GitLab, and Redmine, along with Gantt charts, Kanban boards, saved searches, and template recommendations. There was interest in better representing research workflows and relationships by integrating parent-child and many-to-many relationships between experiment and resource entities.
A major theme was improving sample and chemical inventory tracking. Participants emphasized that parent-child relationships are more valuable than folder structures for research workflows and noted current limitations in linking and visualizing specific inventory items. Suggestions included enhancing chemical inventory management, making samples easier to track, and providing previews (e.g., chemical structures) directly within resource entries to reduce the need for downloading and re-uploading data.
Thank you to all the participants!
